Valero San Antonio Careers – Refinery Chemist

Job Description:

Performs laboratory operations, maintains regulatory compliance (especially reformulated gasoline), oversees and trains Lab Technicians and completes special projects. Supports refinery operations by helping to maintain analytical instrumentation and methodologies, working with engineering to help troubleshoot unit process issues, maintain laboratory performance, and any other duties as deemed necessary.

Job Responsibilities:

• Performs special projects as assigned by Laboratory Manager.
• Trains and oversees Lab Techs in the use of instruments.
• Maintains analytical specialization in certain areas.
• Collects and interprets analytical data.
• Other duties as assigned (ordering of instrumentation, supplies, etc.)
• Installs, documents, and trains personnel on new laboratory procedures

Qualification & Experience:

• Bachelor of Science (or higher) degree in Chemistry, Biology, Bio-Chemistry, Physics, or related field required.
• 3 years of directly related laboratory experience required.
